How to “sew with your hook”: the zipper method.
Faced with squares or other “assembly required” in your crochet project? Many options are available to you, all with slightly different results. Here is one of my favourite techniques to sew pieces together in crochet… no sewing needle required! This method has many advantages: it’s quick, and the result is a sturdy, perfectly straight seam.
Step 1. With right sides facing you, insert hook in back loop only of the 1st stitch on the piece at your right.
Step 2. Insert hook in back loop only of the 1st stitch of the piece at your left.
Step 3. Pull yarn with which you will be seaming through both stitches.
Step 4. With yarn behind work, insert hook in the back loop of the next stitch on the right.
Step 5. Keeping yarn behind work, insert hook in the back loop of the next stitch on the left.
Step 6. Yarn over and pull through both stitches and loop on hook.
Repeat steps 4 to 6 across.
